Executive Chef Robert Ash began his career at Fairmont Banff Springs in July 2018. Prior to joining the team, Chef was a proud leader within Omni Hotel group, acting as Executive Chef, and Director of Food and Beverage in many North American hotels and resorts. The avid outdoorsmen and veteran culinary expert is inspired by forming genuine connections with nature and providing guests with a true taste of place, proving the iconic Castle in the Rockies is an intuitive fit for Chef Ash and his family.  From training in France at L’École Du Grand Chocolat to leading the team at Wynn Macao, China, the Buffalo, New York native has had the privilege to lead extraordinary teams in world-class culinary destinations.

ELLEN BARROW

Ellen leads the Conference Services team at Fairmont Banff Springs and considers her position and working in the Canadian Rockies her dream job. Ellen began her career at the hotel by contracting and organizing weddings before moving on to the corporate world. In 1997, she became the Director of Conference Services and Catering at the hotel. When not at the hotel, Ellen enjoys skiing in the mountains or paddle boarding on the pristine lakes and considers herself fortunate to have been able to raise two sons in such a magnificent place. Ellen is a Certified Meeting Planner and a graduate from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce.

KIM BECKETT

Kim joined the Fairmont Banff Springs in May 1983. During her career at the hotel she has worked in the Alberta Dining Room, the Food and Beverage office, the main kitchen, as well as, being the Chef’s Secretary. In January 1985, she transferred to Edmonton to increase her knowledge in the Front Office and gain experience working at a city property. Missing the mountains and resort life, Kim returned to the hotel where she joined the Conference Services team, working her way from Coordinator to Assistant Director. Kim graduated from the Hospitality program from Canadore College and is Certified Meeting Planner.

RAMAZAN RAMAZANOV

Ramazan started his career at Fairmont Baku in Azerbaijan in January 2013 where he held positions in various restaurants as a Food & Beverage Manager. From there Ramazan worked at the Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii where he held the role of Brown’s Beach House Manager and In-Room Dining Manager since 2015. Since then he’s joined the Fairmont Banff Springs as an Assistant Director, Events Operations and during his free time you can find Ramazan outdoors or at the gym practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Previous to his Fairmont career Ramazan studied Applied Mathematics and Economical Cybernetics at the Baku State University and is fluent in English, Russian, Turkish and Azerbaijani.

MIKE DAIGNEAULT

Mike began his career with Fairmont Hotels in 1986 at Chateau Lake Louise as a Banquets House Person before moving down the road to Fairmont Banff Springs. He instantly knew that this was the right move. After a role in 1991 as a Banquets House Person, he moved to Conference Services and has never looked back. Having organized over 225 weddings and many groups, he considers it a dream come true to be able to live in the centre of the Canadian Rockies. Mike is an avid skier, hiker, biker and lover of nature. His biggest joy is sharing Banff and the Bow Valley with its many visitors. Mike graduated from the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Management program from Canadore College

BARB WALLACE

After the Tour Wholesaler that Barb worked for in Calgary closed its doors, she sought out a new career in the mountains. Banff had always been a dream destination for Barb and in September 1989, it became a reality. Barb has worked in every aspect of Conference Services since then. Barb’s role as a Conference Service Manager has given her the opportunity to work with so many amazing clients, and coordinate with so many different and talented teams within the organization. When not at the castle, Barb enjoys her family life in the Canadian Rockies.

SHELLEY KRAJNAK

Shelley arrived at Fairmont Banff Springs in June 1994 and started working as a Dining Room Supervisor. Having fallen in love with Banff, Shelley has been a Bow Valley resident for over 23 years. She has helped create the current Banquet Department and worked as a Director of Banquets before transitioning into her current role as a Conference Service Manager. Shelley enjoys organizing large and complex programs but what really keeps her here is the amazing scenery and outdoors. Her passion in life is animals and in her off time can be found walking her dog, Bella, puttering in the garden or exploring the trails on her horse, Slick. Shelley holds a Bachelor Degree in Biology from York University.

LAURA GRAY

Laura arrived in Banff in 1988 and started her career at Fairmont Banff Springs. Laura has held a variety of positions including, Room Service, The Rob Roy Dining Room, Banquets, the Rundle Lounge, Sales and finally found her home with the Conference Services team. Laura loves the people, the scenery, activities and all that the hotel and the area has to offer. Laura has proudly raised two children in the Bow Valley area. Laura holds a Diploma in Hotel Restaurant Management from Centennial College.

DIANNE KNEALE

Dianne started her career at Fairmont Banff Springs in April 1984. Her first role at the hotel was at the golf course, booking and selling green fees. Since then, Dianne has worked in Food & Beverage; the formal dining room, many of the restaurants and helped in the creation of the Banquets Department. One of Dianne’s most memorable experiences was working the Commonwealth Conference with the Heads of State & Royalty from around the Commonwealth. Dianne is a Conference Services Manager and loves organizing events like these. Fun fact, Dianne worked as a midnight baker one summer and loved treating her colleagues to delicious baked goods. Dianne graduated from the University of Laval.

CHRIS MCKAY

Chris first came to Fairmont Banff Springs for a one year job in Housekeeping in 1990. After trying a few other career paths, he followed his heart back to the Castle in the Rockies in 1994. Since then, Chris has taken on the positions of Banquets Supervisor, AV technician, Projects Manager and IT Professional. Chris then found his home as the Conference Concierge. Chris loves the dynamic opportunity the role has given him and looks forward to being part of the growth here at Fairmont Banff Springs. When Chris is not organizing conference delegates he is busy organizing the activities of his two sons.
