Fairmont Banff Springs Photo Shoot Policy

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Banff National Park, Fairmont Banff Springs is one of the most photographed destinations in the Canadian Rockies. From milestone celebrations to creative productions, the castle has long inspired unforgettable imagery.

To ensure every photo shoot is thoughtfully managed while preserving the comfort, privacy, and experience of our guests, we have established the following photography and filming guidelines. We invite you to review our policy below and submit requests in advance so our teams can support your plans seamlessly.

We require 2–3 weeks’ advance notice for all requests so our teams can review and process them appropriately. While we will make every effort to accommodate urgent inquiries, approval of requests submitted with less than two weeks’ notice cannot be guaranteed, particularly during periods of high business volume, and is at the discretion of Conference Services, Royal Service, and Public Relations.

For media, influencers, and creators, we pause all on-property filming during peak periods to ensure the comfort, privacy, and overall experience of our guests.

Any requests for personal photo sessions at the Fairmont Banff Springs will only be permitted in conjunction with a signed wedding or event contract. This must be arranged through the Conference Services and Catering office via [email protected]

A personal photo shoot refers to professional filming or imagery that will not be used for the intent of generating income. Personal photo shoots will be considered for in-house guests only. Requests are to be shared with Royal Service via [email protected]If a guest has a booking in the system, a royal service agent will arrange a completed photography permission letter to be provided to the guest when checking into the hotel.

Commercial filming refers to any filming or imagery being taken for a market audience with the intent of generating income. This includes social media influencers, music videos, TV/film, and advertising. Commercial filming and photoshoot requests must be sent to Fairmont Banff Springs’ Public Relations team for review.

Commercial Filming may also need a permit from the Town of Banff.

By law, drone use is prohibited in Banff National Park and requires a permit issued by Parks Canada.
