Effective June 20, 2022, the requirement for domestic and outbound international travellers to be fully vaccinated will be dropped. International travelers arriving in Canada will still be required to be fully vaccinated.

Travelling from outside of Canada?

Please ensure you have read, understood and complied with all Canadian requirements for all foreign nationals and permanent residents travelling into Canada. Information on testing services in Alberta can be found here. Travelers must submit their quarantine plans through ArriveCAN (free mobile app or website) before boarding a flight to Canada or arriving at the land border crossing.

Vaccinated International Travelers

Fully vaccinated travelers no longer need to provide a pre-entry COVID-19 test result or quarantine plan to enter Canada by air, land or water. Travelers arriving in Canada from any country via a land border may be selected for mandatory random testing.

Partially or Unvaccinated International Travelers

If partially or non-vaccinated, proceed to a 14-day quarantine. If you have no symptoms and your second test is taken after 8 days after arrival in Canada results come back negative, you may exit quarantine once you have completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine. Please read, learn and understand the Canadian requirements here. Information on testing services in Alberta can be found here.

Unless otherwise exempt, all travelers 5 years of age or older who do not qualify as fully vaccinated must continue to provide proof of an accepted type of pre-entry COVID-19 test result.

  • A valid, negative antigen test, administered or observed by an accredited lab or testing provider, taken outside of Canada no more than one (1) day before their initially scheduled flight departure time or their arrival to the land border or marine port of entry; or
  • a valid negative molecular test taken no more than 72 hours before they initially schedule flight departure time or their arrival at the land border or marine port of entry; or
  • previous positive molecular test taken at least 10 calendar days and no more than 180 calendar days before their initially scheduled flight departure time or their arrival at the land border or marine port of entry. It is important to note that positive antigen test results will not be accepted.

All Travelers – Fully, Partially & Unvaccinated International Travelers

All travelers are still required to submit their mandatory information in ArriveCAN 72 hours prior to their arrival in Canada. Travelers who arrive without completing their ArriveCAN submission may have to test on arrival and quarantine for 14 days, regardless of their vaccination status.

All travelers outside of Canada should familiarize themselves with the entry requirements of the country they’re departing Canada for. For example, travelers re-entering the US will need to be tested no more than 1 day before traveling by air into the United States and show a negative result to the airline before boarding the flight.
