Rundle Bar To Undergo Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

March 9, 2020

BANFF, AB – Today, Fairmont Banff Springs has announced details of its extensive $5 million renovation of the Rundle Bar, its main hotel bar in the heart of the Castle, which is set to be unveiled in July 2020.

Originally designed and utilized as the front lobby in the historic Banff Springs Hotel from 1928-2000, the renovated space will boast an impressive main bar equipped with an intricate two-story bar display and a rolling library ladder, a newly appointed cocktail bar on Mezzanine II with supreme views of the iconic Cascade Mountain, a dedicated stage featuring a grand piano between the two levels for daily live music, as well as cozy fireplace installations throughout the entire venue to create the perfect après atmosphere. An expansive private room on the main level is masked by bookshelves and floor-to-ceiling doors, while the inviting interior is home to exposed brick accents, an intimate fireplace and contemporary art that transform into 4K televisions, allowing guests to personalize their exclusive experience.

Executive Chef Robert Ash will be unveiling a new menu featuring classic lounge favourites complemented by globally-influenced Pan Asian dishes, while the bar serves both classic and novel hand-crafted cocktails, local craft beer and an extensive wine list. Fairmont Banff Springs’ signature Afternoon Tea experience will also return to the Rundle Bar from 12:00pm to 3:00pm daily with a well-curated traditional menu and subtle hints of Canadiana cuisine to continue the 132-year-old ritual at the Castle.

The female-led and Calgary-based Frank Architecture, also responsible for the recent redesign of The Vermillion Room in 2018 and Castello Italiana in 2019, will be leading Rundle’s first renovation since its original opening in 2000. The Rundle Bar is closed during the renovations until its unveiling in June 2020.
