Christmas At The Castle Returns To Fairmont Banff Springs

BANFF AB – Each year, the “Castle in the Rockies” transforms into Christmas at the Castle for the holiday season and welcomes guests from around the world to experience the magic of Christmas. Today, Fairmont Banff Springs announced new and returning festive programming that takes place from Friday, November 29, 2019 to Sunday, January 5, 2020. From décor by famed designer Cory Christopher to indulgent dining experiences and family-friendly activities, the holiday spirit is truly alive at Fairmont Banff Springs.

New Experiences

Mini Santa Suites

In addition to the annual Santa Suite, Fairmont Banff Springs is introducing four new Mini Santa Suites to accommodate guests this holiday season. These festive guestrooms are specially decorated by Cory Christopher and feature custom Christmas décor exclusive to each room. The Mini Santa Suites are available for reservation from Friday, November 22 to Friday, January 3 and can be booked through hotel reservations here. Furthermore, the Mini Santa Suites are also open for public viewing on select dates and times.

Instagrammable Walls & Christmas Tree Forest

From an ornamental ball wall and mistletoe booth to an enchanted Christmas tree forest on the Lower Bow Valley Terrace, Cory Christopher-designed “Instagram Walls” provide the perfect popup for the Christmas photo.

The North Pole & Santa’s Bar

The Gatehouse Foyer will be transformed into the North Pole this holiday season. From Sunday, November 29 to Thursday, January 2, young guests will enjoy arts, crafts and photos with your favourite Christmas characters. Meanwhile, guests ‘young at heart’ will enjoy hand-crafted festive cocktails at Santa’s Bar situated at Ramsay Bar, overlooking the Gatehouse Foyer. Live music sets the stage at Santa’s Bar on select dates.

Feature Programming

New Year’s Eve Gala

Ring in the New Year in style with this Fairmont Banff Springs black tie affair. The reception commences at 6:00 p.m. followed by Executive Chef Robert Ash’s four-course dinner at 7:00 p.m. Savour the sound of a live orchestra throughout dinner then kick up your heels from 10:00 p.m. onwards with a midnight toast to the New Year. Santa’s Suite

Indulge in an exclusive five-course dinner at Santa’s Suite from Tuesday, December 17 to Tuesday, December 24. Served family style, prices for this private event start from CAD $2,600 and is available for public viewing daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Reservations for dinner at Santa’s Suite can be made here.

Tree Lighting Ceremonies

On Friday, November 29, Fairmont Banff Springs welcomes guests from near and far for an Outdoor Tree Lighting Ceremony. Christmas carolers and panoramic views on Vermillion Lawn lend to the perfect Christmas at the Castle kickoff. On Monday, December 23rd from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., celebrate the grand lighting of Fairmont’s ceiling-high Christmas tree in the beautiful Mount Stephen Hall.

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol, an annual holiday tradition at Fairmont Banff Springs, returns to the Theatre throughout the holiday season. Through the use of puppets and music, learn the true meaning of Christmas through this heartwarming tale. To view show times, click here.

Dining Experiences

From abundant buffets in Riverview Lounge and Cascade Ballroom to Festive Tea in Rundle Lounge and holiday brunches in The Vermillion Room and Waldhaus Pub, these legendary festive feasts at Fairmont Banff Spring are not to be missed.

To ring in the New Year, indulge at 1888 Chop House with a four or seven-course dinner plus wine pairings or enjoy a four-course dinner and dance in Van Horne Ballroom at the New Year’s Eve Gala.

Family Programming

Santa himself will be hosting family-friendly festive programming such as ice skating on Vermillion Lawn, a private PJ party and the classic Campfire & Marshmallows. Mrs. Claus will be holding festive workshops throughout the Christmas season including Holiday Crafts, Gingerbread House Making and Bedtime Stories.

Enjoy other festive workshops like Ornament Painting and Gift Making to create the perfect gift for a special someone. Surprise in-room Santa visits and Elfie tuck-ins are also available for private booking and can be booked with Royal Service.
