Fairmont Banff Springs Sprinkles New Magic on Christmas at the Castle

November 16, 2023

Banff, AB – November 16, 2023 – The enchantment of festive season is about to unfold at Fairmont Banff Springs as the iconic resort readies for its annual Christmas at the Castle from November 26 to December 31, 2023. Surrounded by the wintry magic of Banff National Park, the 135 year old Castle in the Rockies will transform into a wonderland brimming with grand adornments, offering hotel guests and visitors from near and far a variety of activities, festive feasts, and events to enhance their holiday celebrations.

Hold onto your Santa hats! New to this year’s Christmas at the Castle lineup, Fairmont Banff Springs will be opening to day visitors with the debut of ‘Journey to the North Pole’. This two-week experience allows unique access to areas of the castle typically closed off to the public. Starting with a decadent hot chocolate and house-made Christmas treats in Mount Stephen Hall, visitors will be taken on a behind the scenes journey through lavishly decorated halls, ending with an opportunity to meet Santa Claus. Tickets are $20 per adult, and free for children ages 18 and under. The ticket cost will be donated in full to Make a Wish Foundation.

Kicking off the season with a twinkling spectacle, a tree lighting ceremony will be offered as an exclusive event for in-house guests on November 26. Joined by well-known Canadian designer and media personality, Jillian Harris, the intimate gathering in Mount Stephen Hall will illuminate a floor-to-ceiling Christmas tree – casting its glow upon the castle, and setting the stage for this month-long celebration. Jillian has collaborated with Fairmont Banff Springs to decorate its signature two bedroom Majestic Suite. In honor of the partnership, Fairmont Banff Springs will be contributing a stay and additional monetary donation to Make a Wish Foundation, helping children with critical illnesses make their Christmas wishes come true.

To complement the jovial sights and sounds of the season, the resort will be hosting a series of familiar events and activities. Sumptuous holiday offerings include brunch or dinner in a Santa Suite, multi-course festive feasts in the 360 Dome, and a specialty cocktail menu in the highly anticipated Thirsty Reindeer holiday bar. Gingerbread making, ornament-decorating sessions, meet and greets with Santa, and live performances of A Christmas Carol will be held for guests.

Visitors can expect a grand dose of Canadian tradition to continue throughout the winter months. As the weather drops, Fairmont Banff Springs will launch a new ‘Sugar Shack’ and ice rink paired with a picture-perfect view of the Canadian Rockies.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests and visitors to another season of Christmas at the Castle“, says Eric Overstreet, Hotel Manager of Fairmont Banff Springs. “From our exclusive Tree Lighting Ceremony to the exciting new Journey to the North Pole experience, we are turning up the festive fun to create memories that will last a lifetime.“
