Fairmont Banff Springs’ Rundle Bar Renovation Named “Best of Canada” in Hospitality Design
BANFF, AB – The recently renovated Rundle Bar at Fairmont Banff Springs has been presented with the 2021 Canadian Interiors “Best of Canada” award in hospitality for its interior design. The main hotel bar’s CAD $5 million refurbishment was unveiled in July 2020 after a six-month renovation and was designed by Calgary-based FRANK Architecture.
The Rundle Bar boasts a two-story main bar with custom bronze and wood engraving, a rolling library ladder, and double-volume arches that were once part of the original building façade. One of the original arches serves as the entrance to an expansive speakeasy-style private room that is masked by bookshelves and floor-to-ceiling doors, while the upper level is home to a dedicated cocktail bar and intimate lounge seating for the perfect après atmosphere.
“Thank you to Canadian Interiors for recognizing the Rundle Bar’s spectacular design and to FRANK Architecture for turning this dream into a reality,” said Gregor Resch, General Manager of Fairmont Banff Springs and Regional Vice President of Canada’s Western Mountain Region. “We are delighted this renovation provides guests with a unique and stunning location in the heart of the hotel that complements an outstanding cocktail and culinary experience.”
The Canadian Interiors “Best of Canada” awards have been held for 24 years and celebrates the best products and projects in the design industry. A panel of expert judges reviewed the nominations submitted by interior designers, architects, interior architects, decorators, and crafts persons across Canada, to select the best interior design projects and products in the country.
The female-led firm FRANK Architecture also designed The Vermillion Room and Castello Italiana at Fairmont Banff Springs, as well as Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s Fairview Bar & Restaurant and Fairmont Palliser’s Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar.
The Rundle Bar is open daily from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 a.m, serving classic lounge favourites complemented by globally-inspired small plate dishes, hand-crafted cocktails, local craft beer and an extensive wine list. Reservations for Rocky Mountain Afternoon Tea can be made here. For more information on the Rundle Bar, visit here.
